In keeping with shifts in the OSAA seasons, the OHSLA Board has moved the upcoming 2020-2021 lacrosse season schedule forward 2weeks, beginning April 5th and ending May 22nd syncing lacrosse with the other spring sports in OSAA 2021 Season #3. For reference, the revised 2020-21 OSAA Calendar can be found here. This effectively removed another 2 weeks from an alreaady abbreviated schedule which has forced the OHSLA board to again change the number of games and the playoffs.
- The regular season will be compressed into 23 days and teams are limited to 7 games in that period.
- There will be a single 32-team playoff. The winning side of the bracket moves on to the Championship, while this year there will be a consolation bracket which leads to the Cascade Cup Champion.
- Teams not selected for the post season as well as team elminated from the tournament brackets, will be be allowed to schedule games with other teams not in the playoffs. However these games must be scheduled on non-playoff days
Additional information can be found on the OSAA site, including FAQs on the OSAA Coronavirus page. The January 13th news release from the board which details the schedule, can be found here The OHSLA Board is aware of the stress this season has put on everyone involved with the league: players, officials, coaches, and parents. Hopefully the last two weeks of play can continue without more players having to sit because of further Covid outbreaks. In the meantime everyone can be vigilant, take the steps they need to remain healthy, and enjoy the time they have on the field.
